Today we’ll finish up the Movie Poster designs, and we’ll do some work at the tables on designing the greeting cards. This will involve a lot of brainstorming, sketching, and writing out ideas for the greeting inside the card.

Thought to ponder for the front of the card:

should text go over the art, like “happy birthday”?

which art works best for text to go over it?

should we have thick black or white borders around the art so it looks like it is framed?

could text be written on this frame

Movie Poster Design!!! We will be practicing with the Character Palette in Photoshop by designing a fake Movie Poster! Here is the text you will use if you want to copy-paste. It is in order of “most important” to “not-so-important” (big to small text).

Type Challenge
Letters don’t always have to spell something out, they can be used for artwork as well! Can you make an entire design using ONLY letters? We’ll vote on a winning design!

:: Project One :::

1. Pick a word - any word! Here’s some ideas: Funny, Crazy, Fun, Exciting, Wild.
2. Go to DaFont.com, click any font theme (Comic, Retro, Modern, Graffiti, Kids, etc.)
3. Locate the “Custom preview” box.
4. Type in your word!
5. Spend some time looking for a font that you think best fits your word.
6. When you are done, take a ‘screen shot.’
7. Repeat from Step 4, this time use the OPPOSITE word!
8. In Photoshop, we will open the images and cut out just your words, and paste them in a new document. After class, I will save them and upload them to our class website!
